The Village of Dolgeville is currently in the process of cleaning and evaluating sanitary sewer mains throughout the Village as part of a NYS Funded program which is providing assistance to the Village to help the community meet NYSDEC requirements related to the sanitary sewer collection system.
The process of cleaning the sewers utilizes high pressure water and, while most homeowners will notice no effects from the cleaning process, some homeowners may have pressure back up into their laterals. The pressure would typically be released through the plumbing vents in the home – either out the side of the house or through the roof. In some instances, due to the lack of plumbing vents, clogged vents, or improperly plumbed fixtures, the pressure will come up through fixtures on the lowest floors of the home. This is most likely to occur in homes close to the sewer main (both in distance and in height) and with fixtures on the lower or basement floors of the homes.
The Village’s contractor is aware of this issue and is using as little pressure as possible in sensitive sections to both move their equipment along down the pipe and satisfactorily perform the work.
Please call D.P.W. with any issues @ 315-429-5252.
